The sting of conviction it seems, is like that sharp spade thrust into the rocky soil of the character of our innerbeing, going right to the very soul . The pride that denied that we were sinning when we were sinning needed the Spirits mighty work to thrust it aside so that we may confess the truth that we had sinned. I think it is the same fleshly pride that ( with allitle help from our enemy) that would rather try to "Get right" with God ,than submit to the Truth that depite our ongoing failure, God's grace through the gospel aplied ,must wash down into the places where the spade of conviction has drawn blood.

We say "I am injured wihtout relief and that is all I deserve " .But God "BREAKS and BINDS UP".
Psalm 103 remembers "all God's benifits of mercy, Fatherhood and forgiveness"

Thank you for the reminder that we can be as sure about the cure as we are about the illness.

Alas, you're right, Charles. Maybe I was writing from the perspective of people somewhat obligated to be on their computers and needing strategies for a lifestyle that involves computers. Yet, in certain situations, yes, get out of your chair and go away. Good council.

You, like many other Christians (including myself) have forgotten the one thing that we need to do when faced with such temptation- RUN. Get out of there. No backward glances. Flee disgracfully. The Bible says : "Flee from all sexual temptations. All other sins a man comitts outside his body. But when a man sins sexually, he sins against his own body. You are not your own, you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your body.

Trent, I'm not sure what you mean by "forbidden lusts," as all lusts (not all desires!)are forbidden. In the end, however, "imagination and ingenuity" will not bring us deliverance, even if temporarily we avoid temptation. Deliverance and forgiveness and obedience are found only in the cross of Christ: "He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, that we might die to sin and live to righteousness. By his wounds you have been healed" (1 Pet 2:24).

With imagination and ingenuity one can overcome any forbidden lusts. When I struggle with my forbidden lusts I write it down and put them in a "Forbidden Lust Bag". Then I set the bag a flame to symbolize that the sin would have taken me to hell.

One should definately find a way to avoid their forbidden lusts.
